Here are a Few Testimonials

Shirley:

Bravo and Bravo again.  Do not sell yourself short.  You are the best in the bird business.  Not only do you love birds but you take great pride in their handling.  Moreover, you speak honestly and sincerely about your birds. The birds that I have bought from you are second to none.  When you give me the price of one of your birds bargaining is out of the question as I feel privileged to be the purchaser of your birds. I mean all this from the bottom of my heart.

Good afternoon Shirley,

First of all, we absolutely love Bizou.  He's very affectionate, and we haven't had any problems with screeching....he's not talking yet but he's whistling beautiful songs for us when we enter his room (and especially when we leave!).he's doing great and we're really enjoying him.

Thank you,

Catherine

Thank you very much for your hospitality today. Sonya was just all smiles the entire ride back, and she positively glowed as she recounted everything Tequila did with her to everyone in Tennessee! I just know that he is going to be quite the character... I am firmly convinced by his look that he is fully expecting to get into trouble at every opportunity. That will make a perfect addition to out family.
Fern.

Shirley,

Thank you so much for emailing us these two referrals!  We will most certainly follow up on the two contacts.
It was a pleasure to meet you last week.  You were very gracious to show us your aviary and give us some advise on breeding birds.
Thank you for taking the time to let us visit with you.  We really appreciate your kindness.

If we don't speak sooner, Happy Holidays.
Take care for now,
Darlene

Hello Shirley,

We purchased a cockatiel from Dr. Olender 2 years ago ( at Christmas) for our 8 year old daughter.  He was one of your birds.  His name is Merlin and he is great!  He is loving, sweet, he talks and has at least 20 or more phrases that he says.

I was trying to get a basic article on Cockatiel care for Victoria (now age 10) to use for a school project.  Any thoughts?

Thanks for a wonderful bird!
Kimberly

Hi Shirley,
Just thought I would update you on Ollie's progress seeing it has been almost 2 months since I have him.  He is doing great!  He has taken over the house and everyone in it!  He "steps up" onto our fingers now.
He also will lay on his back in my palm and let me scratch his belly. He will also stick his whole head in my mouth if I open it wide enough, this last stunt grosses out my daughter. He is so affectionate, we just all love him to death.  Just wanted to let you know how he is doing.
Debbie

Hi Shirley,

Estrella is adapting quite well in our home.  The first day she learned "up" to go on one finger.  She is such a delight!  She loves eating vegetables.
She is a bit shy to be touched for now, but likes to give kisses.  She hasn't taken any baths as of yet, except for putting her head in her bath dish,  Thanks for providing such a quality bird.

Sincerely,
Rob

Hi Shirley,

I am the proud owner of one of your Caiques (Band# SAU173 - Hatch date: 17 June 02) which I acquired from a local pet shop Feb a year ago.  He is a beautiful, loving and very crazy character... a wonderful investment in my family of birds. Guess you would say we are the typical crazy bird lovers as we have 5 different kinds of parrots - with the Caique quickly taking the roll of chief instigator.

All the best,
Claire

Thank you so much, Shirley, for breeding such a beautiful bird and being such a loving grandma to her.

Phoenix had a good trip home.  She was very vocal but not at all loud, she slept a bit and even nibbled on her bananas and corn.  A lady at the Bird Club told us that eclectus do not travel well and get car sick all the time but Phoenix didn't get sick once.

She's such a happy and loving bird.  When we got home we cuddled w/her for quite sometime.  She nuzzled under my chin and even tried to preen my eyebrows.  That kind of freaked me out because I turned my face towards her and all I saw was a giant beak coming at me but I didn't flinch.  Eric asked her to step up which she did and she even cuddled w/him which made him very happy. She loves her cage.  She's climbing all over it and hanging upside down by one foot. Anyways,  thanks again for everything and we will definitely recommend you to anyone we know who's looking for a feathered friend.
Eric and Dawn

Hi, Shirley.

Wow, thanks for all that info!  I haven't sifted through everything yet, but I'm sure it will come in very handy.
Our little sweety, whom we've named Kippis (Finnish for "cheers"), is settling well into her new home.  Today we spent a fortune at Petsmart on all kinds of perches, toys, etc.  She especially loves her "muff" (a fuzzy tunnel/hammock) where she feels very secure and happy.  She makes soft little chirpy noises when she's in there, and she rubs her head against it.
Mostly, so far, so good.  She was very cuddly this evening, and made herself right at home in a blanket on the couch with us.  She seemed intrigued by a couple of games of "peek-a-boo", and she was more than ready to snuggle and even lift her wings for tickles.
Thanks again for the forwarded e-mails, and thanks in advance for your advice!
Regards,
Aaron & Charlene

Jordan is great he whistles non stop, he doesn't bite, and loves shiny things. Jordon is really nice and I really want to thank you for introducing him to me !! Keep in touch,Thanks Bye!
Thank-you so much Julia

Thank you so much for the wonderful little girl we brought home, she is a darling, everyone loves her.  Could you please email me a link to those sights you had mentioned, I would love to do some more reading so I don't make any mistakes.  Thanks so much, Wendy

Hi Shirley,
Phoenix is doing great!
We take her to the video store and she makes a point of craning her neck over the display shelves and says hello to everyone.  We had her over at the neighbor's last night and were afraid she'd poop on the carpet but she's so smart she let us know when she had to go and she pooped after Eric took her outside.

She's talking up a storm but most times only Eric and I can decipher what she's saying. She does say clearly, Hello, I Love You, Step Up, What the Hell are you Doing? (sorry that's my fault, Dawn), Are you a pretty girl, you're such a pretty girl, Good girl, and she's practicing, Are you talking to me?

We find it incredible that she's so social and has such a loving personality.

Eric brought her to my work and although she was shy with all my co-workers she said Hello and laughed alot.

Hope all is going well w/you and yours and we have mentioned your name to people who fall in love w/Phoenix.

Dawn and Eric

Shirley,

I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how great Zoe is.  The vet gave her a clean bill of health, and she's an absolute pleasure.  She's friendly, quiet, and playful, and after we handle her more and more she will be a great snuggle buddy on our chests while we watch tv or play on the computer.  I'd like to thank you for all of your help.  You really made a horrible situation into a great one.

Ariella

Shirley,

She was fine last night.  A little scared when we covered her, but we uncovered and then re-covered, and she was fine and quiet the entire night.  We gave her a bath this morning and then put the hair dryer on her.  She was preening herself.  Also, we put her on her perch and showed her where her food and water is.  We have to keep reminding her where these things are, but she's eating and drinking just fine, although she appears to only be eating the seed.  My mom says she's a little "too" perfect... in fact, she hasn't made much more than a peep, and she hasn't really begun moving around her cage very much.  I'm sure it's because she's still getting used to her environment.  I named her Zoe. Thank you for all of the information you sent.  The stuff about houseplants will be especially helpful, because there are fresh flowers and such in our house from time to time.  Thank you for all of your help, and I'm very happy with her.  I am having her checked by a vet in the next couple days, and then everything will be totally completely fine.

Thank you,
Ariella

G'day Shirley,

Hope all is well w/you and yours.
I thought I'd give you another update on Phoenix.
She's progressing amazingly fast.  She is talking now.  She doesn't always speak clearly but oftentimes does.  She says Hello, whatcha doing, I don't know, I love you, I love you too, Yes, Who's a pretty girl? Oh you're such a pretty girl, and Domino (are cat's name), Ohhhh, Eric, and Where's Eric, to name a few.  When she calls the cat the cat freaks and runs away. She's almost totally trained to let us know when she has to poops and we take her to the cage so she can do her business.
She's a very good eater.    We gave her cooked shrimp as a treat a few weeks ago and took pictures of her because she looked so cute w/it all over her face.  When she's eating and her face is covered w/food I'll tell her to wash her face and she rubs her face on her perch to clean it off.
She loves to be sprayed w/a spray bottle or to get in the shower on your shoulder.
Eric spent alot on toys from the pet store but she seems to favor the baby toys I've bought from the thrift store and the toys we've made for her.
We'll send you some pictures soon and hope all is well with you.

Dawn and Eric

Hi Shirley,
Ricco is doing just fine, we didn't get home until 10:00pm, he is pretty quiet on our way home from the airport, he must be really tired and hungry as soon as we got home he try to communicate with us he doesn't seem to be very afraid of us, he ate half a bananas as soon as he got into his cage and try out the seeds in the bowl, mostly play with it.
Yes,he is such a cute and good looking bird.My wife & kids really enjoy him as a new addition to our family member. He seem like having more reaction, when my wife was talking to him.
Thanks again!, for all the works and time you put in for him.
I will let you know how is the progress and might have more questions for you.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Chek

Dear Shirley,

You are so right that she is a great bird.  I love her so much!  She is so gentle and learns so fast.  Thanks for the tips about noise.  Now her squawking makes sense.  I was saying "No" when she squawked, and that seemed to help a bit, but not enough.  I will follow your great advice.  Part of her flock, I like that.  Thanks again for raising such a superb bird.

Sincerely,

The birdies arrived in fine health!  The birds are beautiful!! Ashley looks like a white version of our normal grey, fat and juicy!! She seems to have blood or some red stuff on her, doesn't look like blood, is just a little pink could that be lipstick? I'm already in love, THANK YOU THANK YOU! She is the most beautiful bird in the world. Wow. Can't thank you enough for these two birds.  I think the budgie is a male.  He's a cutie!

~Katt

Hi Shirley !

Everything is fine with my baby.
His  name : Octave
It's relate to music and it's also the name of my grand-grand-father !!!
Octave seams to like he's  name and he's now very friendly with me.
He make different sounds, like a new one each day ! I try to teach him some new one.
I think that he said one word at many time but i can understand exactly what it is. It's probably in english, so it's a bit hard to me to find what it is. Could you remember me the words that he's able to say (you know what's it's in your record) The number on his ring it's 17.
Thank's again for all. I"m very happy to get my baby !

Sorry for my english level...
Eric ;-)

Hi Shirley,
Ollie, is getting along fantastically!  He is such a sweetie!  He sits on my shoulder and cuddles against my neck, hides in my hair and nibbles (very gently) on my ear.  He is very curious and will climb down off my shoulder onto the table or (as he is right now) onto the computer desk and investigate whatever is on the table top.  He loves to eat anything I happen to be eating when he is out.  He chirps happily every once in a while but is quite quiet. He has even flown from his cage top to my son's shoulder and mine on a few occasions.
Take care and thanks for such a wonderful companion.
Debbie

Dear Shirley,

First I want to thank you for providing the utmost care and love to Phoebe that she so deeply requires.  I miss her terribly, and my heart weighs heavy on my shoulders in lieu of this.  Her photo is absolutely breathtaking and brought tears to my eyes the moment I saw her.  I hope all is well for you and God Bless You for taking both Phoebe and Simon under your wings!
Joleen

from Jenna

Hi Shirley,

Kiwi has arrived safe and sound. Thanks for everything, Jenna can't stop smiling.

Wayne & family

Tequila couldn't wait to write you and tell you how much fun he is having. He is almost the same size as his new little sister, Dixie,,, and twice the size of his older sister, Maggie. Every one loves him and is getting a kick out of him. He is still a little shy, but is working on being part of the family. He sleep on the perch beside his bed, I guess getting inside will come later? He was on the top play pen and was frightened by the vacuum. He hopped/flew down and ran straight to Mommy! I felt soooo proud. We are all having a ball... here are just a couple of pictures.

Love and Laughter,
Sonya

Hi Shirley,

She says "up, kiwi, oh boy, what are ya doing, good morning and thank you." and a whole bunch of other "garble" she gives great kisses and says thank you afterward. She turns around full circle on command. always steps up and is a bundle of energy. She has a real personality. Thanks for such a good baby. t all. I have a friend who has had birds for 15 years who now just has a Timneh Grey who would like to buy a peach front from you. Can you get back to me and let me know if you have an eggs or babies? Hi Shirley..

Just a note to say that I think Angel is finally starting to eat her pellets... I haven't seen her drink water yet..but she has fresh water in her cage all the time..So I might just be missing her drink.. she seems fine, back to being her crazy self as you will see in the pic's I've sent.. I'm a little jealous of my room mate here( kidding) as Angel has always gone to her for play and quiet time and to me for food..she does come to me but not as much as to Christine..We all are really enjoying her..she is so funny...Christine has got her taking the odd bit of food from her.. but she still is not very curious about most things yet.. but it will come..I'm sure.Anyway.. just wanted to let you know that she is fine and having a ball..talk to you soon..

yours truly,
Valerie

Jonathan is doing very good, and so is Toko.  Jonathan often takes Toko outside to take his nice MIST shower (when it is warm enough), and takes him out of the cage many times a day.  Toko's starting to be very good in his cage, being able, among other things, to climb on the big rope and leather toy he has. We are very pleased with the bird, and his exam at the vet was perfect. Thank you for keeping in touch, we appreciate your caring, Erik, Josee, Jonathan, and Christine.

Hi there, Tango is going great. He is a lot of fun and very funny. 95% of the time he wants to play and we got him lots of toys to keep him busy. He really enjoys his bath and cuddles. He is a very good addition to our family. I will send you some pictures some time soon. Take care

Hi Shirley,

Thank you for taking the time to help me select our second cockatiel. She is beautiful! I am sure that Merlin will LOVE his new friend! I can't wait for the rest of the family to meet her.... including our two chocolate labradors!

I had no doubt you were a reputable breeder when our vet recommended you but I was overwhelmed to see the amount of love and care you give to your babies and how they all respond when you walk in the room. They are all obviously very loved and cared for in the best possible manner. It really is a testament to your breeding and care for these fantastic animals!

Can't wait to see photos of our baby!

Thank you again.

Kimberly

Hello Shirley, nice babies you have there.

Keep up the good work as they look healthy and perfectly surrounded with lots of TLC. I know that you have a very good reputation as a breeder because I heard lots of good comments on your aviary. I'm located near Quebec city. I will let you know when I make up my mind on this purchase if my choice lands on your babies. Thanks for replying to my ad.

Linda

Hi Shirley,

I gave Lilly the Scarlet Macaw a kiss and said it was from you. She said "I love you". It was mighty cute! She's growing up to be a most remarkable creature. She's quite the talker. Besides the usual parrot babble, she can speak cognitively. It was love at first sight between Vanilla and Lilly.
Lilly has also made friends with one of our dogs. Apart from the usual spillage, she intentionally feeds him as well. The most heart warming was when she cracked a peanut, took it over to him, and dropped in front of him, then backed away so he could eat it.She does stalk the cat mercilessly, though. Very early on she established who was boss with the cat and the cat is afraid of her.
Lilly had her one year vet check a couple of weeks ago. She has a clean bill of health and is over 1200 grams now.
If you need a person in Winnipeg to vouch for your aviary to local people, you are more than welcome to use us as a reference.

Sincerely,
Bryan Johnson

Hi Shirley,

Nikki is simply beautiful. She is just great. She is just soooooooo precious. We are very lucky to have her. She cuddles right up to me and Fred and chatters away to us. Thank you for this precious little bird.

Pam and Fred

Shirley,

You are so nice and helpful Shirley. I may have given up if weren't for your kind words. There was something about cage placement in one of the e-mails you sent too, very helpful.
Again, I wish we had of known about your place before. I know the guy we bought from means well but he just doesn't have the knowledge to help me, said he had never, ever had a bird that screamed before.

Vicki

Hi Shirley,

I thought it was about time for an update on your beautiful grandbaby Aztec the Hawkhead, or more commonly known as Azzie. He is a sweetie. I couldn't ask for a better bird. He is very playful and very cuddley. One of his favorite things to do is to chase my youngest son and daughter away from me. It's like he is my little bodygaurd. He hisses at them and laughs, but he is always doing it in play. He is very gentle with his human sibblings and loves them a lot. He has also become best friends with my goffins cockatoo, Morgan. They share food, toys and people very well and they preen and snuggle with each other a lot. Unfortunately, my African grey does not want to be friends with Azzie, she is such a grump with other birds.....oh well. Well, I am including pictures for you. Azzie riding a bike, getting a snuggle from mom (or is it the other way around?)

Well, I hope you have a great day. Keep up the great work raising great birdies, Kathy and Azzie in Edmonton

Hi,

I am located in Calgary, Alberta. I am definitely interested in getting a Congo African Grey. Your reputation is excellent so I have no concerns. What is the process to send you the payment?

Best Regards,
Raman Gill

Hello Shirley,

Yes George my baby Hawkhead arrived last nite, safe and sound. He squawked a few time when I opened the carry cage then walked out, stepped onto my arm and said HI! What a sweetie. Your love and caring comes shining thru in him - he really is an awesome little bird!

Jean

Hi Shirley,

I thought I would let you know how our green guy is doing, his first birthday is tomorrow.
He is everything we had hoped for, he is smart, cheekey, gentle, nosey, a great athlete and generally
"The Best Birdie in the World !!"
He also talks a lot and that is just awsome, we are almost at the stage of talking back to each other.
In 2 weeks he is making a second trip with us to Vancouver to see the rest of the family, he was as good as gold the last time, the boys are really excited to see him again and interact.
As you can see, this little birdie has stolen our hearts and we take really good care of him.

Thank you for a lovely companion,
-ilona and ben-
also Walter, Norman and Colin

Hi Shirley

Thank you so much for meeting me with Cocoa my Timneh today. If you weren't willing to drive 1/2 way to meet me I wouldn't have been able to buy one of your babies. I have her all settled in and have been just leaving her totally alone. She is eating, drinking and playing with the toys. She climbs very well. She is beautiful and I am very happy with her. Thank you so much for doing such a wonderful job with her, she is a well adjusted baby and knows how to step up like a pro. I couldn't be happier!

Cindi

Dear Sirs or Ms.,

Thank you for a beautiful website. I loved seeing all the darling parrots, and I cried to see 'baby pictures' of our Sun Conure and Scarlet Macaw, which I didn't get to see as chicks. (The conure was bought in WA as an adult, the Macaw was a rescue).

When I saw all the darling chick pictures I wept and said "Thank you, Lord, for creating these beautiful and funny creatures!"

We look forward to visiting your aviary; My family home is near Buffalo, NY, not so very far from you.

Grateful for seeing the lovely website,

Kathie Kania

Hi Shirley

Just wanted to let you know Carlos is doing well. Still spoiled and having a good life. I just snapped this pic of him and my little girl, Taylor. It's really cute so I thought I'd pass it on to you.

Carla

Dear Shirley,

A quick note to thank you for rescuing Quack. I must have known what was forthcoming. Have been in the hospital again.

Hoping you, family, and all pets are well. Also that Quack isn't too much trouble!
Thanks again, Shirley. You are truly a blessing to ALL!!!

Cheers, Pam

Gracie is fine. She still growls especially if she is eating or playing with her toys. I give her fresh fruit and vegetables every day. I gave her a bit of peach today and she ate it as if she was a baby being fed by her mother reguritating food for her to eat. I laughed right out loud.

Yesterday Dad picked her up and she said Thank You as I say that after I give her a treat and tell her what the name of the treat is.

Tonight she said hello. I'm working on training her to "potty" and enjoying her more then I would have thought possible. She sits on my lap in the morning while I'm having my tea and I give her the fruit or veggie.

Hope all is well with your birds.
Lisa

Hi Shirley,

Things are going well with Oscar (baby SAU213 as you may know him) - he's starting to come around. He was a little scared at first but now is doing a few tricks - he's mastered the 'turn around' and is working on his foot wave and we've only had him a week and a half! Turns out that corn is absolutely his favourite (so far), especially those little corn cobs you get in Chinese food. Thanks again for the wonderful pet,

Mark

Hi Shirley

Just sending you an update on Kiwi. She is doing marvelous! She is such a suck, lol.. She loves to cuddle into your neck on your shoulder, very cute!

Thanks again for breeding such wonderful birds!

Amber

Hi Shirley,

First off, thank you so much for your great advice. I put a heating blanket on top of his cage (he has a solid bottom) and gave him a little apple juice. We also put a lamp beside his cage and then covered him with a warm blanket. He seemed to be on the mend by bedtime, and the next morning we found him perched and happy in his cage. As you suggested, it sounds like it was something he ate... Anyway, thank you so much for being so kind and helping both of us out. You gave us peace of mind and your tips helped get Moe back to his old self. Thank you so much!! We will be contacting you in about a year's time for our new little one.

Thank you again, and have a great day.
Lisa

Hi Shirley!!

Great to hear from you! I think we'd all be thrilled to be as busy as you with babies - OHMYGAWSH you are so Blessed with so many wonderful babies - you must work insanely hard from sun-up to sun-down ....365 days a year.... and it really shows on your gorgeous babies. My female Ekkie, "Scarlett" came from you and she is theee most amazingly well-adjusted Ekkie ever.... she's super wonderful and I love her to bits. Ekkies are one of my most favorite birds... but Scarlett is extra-special. Congrats on all your wonderful babies!! I hear ya on the 'bushed' part.... and I'm not doing half as much as you!

Have a Super day - I'm glad you're still here!!
Hugs Sandi
